Drops. The Act of Returning Home.

Kurt’s new project, Drops, is an immersive performance that distills his thematic focus into a single, resonant experience. Using only natural materials—water, stone, and vapor—Kurt explores the cyclical nature of existence, unity, and transformation.

Inspired by his experiences in Nova Scotia, where he felt the vast presence of the ocean, Drops is designed to symbolize the eternal flow of life and the way each individual, like a single drop, ultimately returns to a larger, timeless cycle.

The performance begins with a large natural stone that holds a hidden reservoir of vapor.

Participants place their hands within the stone, encountering warm steam that gradually encourages the formation of sweat on their skin. This single drop of sweat represents an intimate, individual essence—a small but potent symbol of life and existence.

As each participant allows their drop to fall into a communal bowl atop the stone, they contribute to a growing reservoir—a shared essence symbolizing humanity’s interconnectedness.

This act of merging, simple yet profound, symbolizes the universal journey of life, echoing the flow from individual identity to collective experience.

In a culminating ritual, Kurt plans to carry these drops to the ocean, where he will release them back into the vast waters, completing the cycle and reinforcing the eternal connection between the individual and the infinite.

In Drops, the simplicity of materials mirrors the complexity of the human experience, inviting participants to consider their place within the continuum of existence.

This immersive performance transcends the boundaries of individual experience, merging art with shared ritual and reinforcing the universal truths that bind us all.

Kurt’s vision for Drops serves as a testament to the unifying potential of art—a moment of quiet reflection in a turbulent world.
